Parallel Altitudes

What’s the best and worst airport you’ve been to?

“Some journeys are measured best from a distance.”

I avoid the airports;
they are not for me.
But from where I stand,
I watch the planes.

Giants and miniatures
drone through the clouds.

I shun the terminal's rush;
it is not my world.
Instead, I keep my vigil here,
tracking silver lines.

Colossi and specks
hum through the haze.

Airports are a foreign country;
I prefer the distant view.
From this quiet vantage,
I map the moving sky.

Great iron whales and paper birds
drone through the drifting white.
