Static Room

Which celebrity would you love to meet, and what would you talk about?

In rooms of light, in fields of sound,
you make of patience something new.
A small idea, when turned around,
can open doors we never knew.

In the studio
a lamp left on
a system listening to itself

fractured tones
small repetitions
the discipline of almost-nothing

he treats accident
as a collaborator
and silence
as architecture

one note becomes weather
one loop becomes a room
one room becomes a way of thinking

not genius
not in the old heroic sense
but a patient arrangement of conditions

where the future
arrives softly
through static

Does  a loop ever get tired,

or only the listener?

A gift for endings: not the dramatic kind, but the kind that feel discovered rather than forced, as if the music knew when to step aside.

An Ending (ascent), Brian Eno
