Castle

He came from far away, a weary man
Who sought the castle on the hill
He had a letter in his hand
That claimed he was the land surveyor

But when he reached the village gate
He found no welcome there
The peasants eyed him with distrust
The officials were not fair

He tried to reach the castle lord
But all his efforts failed
The castle was a mystery
A labyrinth of walls

He wandered in the snow and fog
He faced the endless trials
He met the strange and hostile folk
Who lived within the isles

He never saw the castle's face
He never knew its name
He never found his rightful place
He never broke the chain

He died alone, a broken man
Who sought the castle on the hill
He had a letter in his hand
That claimed he was the land surveyor
The Castle
