The olive branch

When storms of war and strife cloud o'er the sky,
And darkness seems to reign without an end,
A gentle dove appears with hopeful eye,
And carries in its beak a peaceful friend.

The olive branch, a gift from ancient times,
When Greeks and Romans sought to end their fights,
Now offers us a chance to heal our crimes,
And reconcile our wrongs with human rights.

And as the dove and branch fly through the air,
They cross the path of sunlight shining bright,
And form a splendid arch of colors fair,
A rainbow that displays a glorious sight.

These symbols of the peace we all desire,
Inspire us to love and not to ire.

Peace, hope and harmony
