Chanters

When monks do chant their sacred hymns and psalms,
They tune their hearts to heaven's harmony;
They feel the music in their souls and palms,
And raise their voices in a symphony.

They do not sing for worldly praise or fame,
But for the glory of the Lord above;
They do not seek for earthly wealth or name,
But for the grace and mercy of His love.

They find in music more than sound and art,
But a divine and holy mystery;
They hear in music more than notes and parts,
But a celestial and eternal melody.

Thus monks do chant with fervor and with zeal,
And in their chanting they the music feel.
