Blue moonlight

The summer sun is fading in the west,
And soon the night will wrap the world in dark.
But lo, above the hills there shines a guest,
A blue moon glowing brightly like a spark.

What makes this moon so special and so rare?
It is the second full moon in a month,
A sight that happens once in two or three years,
And fills the sky with wonder and with warmth.

But this blue moon is also tinged with sadness,
For it marks the end of summer's reign.
The days will grow more short and cold with madness,
And we must bid farewell to joy and pain.

Yet let us not despair, but rather treasure
This blue moon as a gift of nature's pleasure.
