As I walk down the country lane at dusk I breathe the scent of honeysuckle, rose The gentle breeze caresses my hair, soft And fills my heart with peace and calm, composed
I see the sun set in the western sky A splash of orange, purple, pink and gold The birds sing their farewell songs, goodbye And nestle in the trees, their homes of old
I feel the warmth of summer on my skin The promise of a night of rest and dreams I thank the day for all that it has been And all the beauty that it has revealed
I smile and sigh, contented and serene This is the magic of an English scene.
The scent of honeysuckle and wild roses in the evening.
