Fiesta

The oldest grandpa helps the young ones grow,
Passing on values that he's learned and known,
He tells them stories of the past and shows,
The way to live with love and kindness shown.

He teaches them to work hard and be true,
To always lend a helping hand to those,
Who need it most, and never to eschew,
The chance to help and see how kindness grows.

He shows them how to love their family,
And cherish every moment that they share,
To always be there when they're needed most,
And show their love with actions, not just words.

So let us learn from grandpa's wisdom true,
And pass on family values old and new.

Here are some other ways to pass on family values:

  • Weave family values into any occasional communication to the family.
  • Create events that feature family storytelling. Interview multiple generations at family reunions.
  • Invite family members of all ages to create art forms or writing that depicts your family’s story.
  • Convene annually to revisit the values and adapt them to the changing family needs.
  • Prepare your child for life by communicating the importance of character, values, and personal responsibility.
  • Share your beliefs and values in a consistent manner reinforced in many ways.
  • Encourage exemplary behavior.
  • Join family workshops meant to help families enhance their values and skills working together as families.
  • Volunteer together or enjoy mother nature to share and instill strong family values for a lifetime.
  • Many family traditions are rooted in previous generations and may include food, music, festivities, and more.
