Broken beauty
A bumble bee flies over a bed of camellias
Pink flowers that brighten up the winter days
It sees some petals scattered on the ground
A sign of decay and decay's ways
It hovers over the broken pieces of beauty
Wondering what caused them to fall and fade
Was it a storm, a frost, or a careless footstep?
Or was it just nature's cycle that they obeyed?
The bumble bee feels a pang of sadness
For the loss of life and color in this scene
But it also feels a spark of hope
For the new buds that will soon emerge green
The bumble bee knows that nothing lasts forever
That everything has its time to shine and die
But it also knows that life goes on
That there is always something new to try
The bumble bee flies away from the camellias
Leaving behind the shattered pink petals
It looks for another source of nectar and pollen
Another flower that will make its heart settle.
