Clean

Dusty rug

Spring is here and it's time to clean
The dusty rug that lies unseen.
Under the sofa and the chair
Where crumbs and dirt have made their lair.

I grab the broom and start to sweep,
But soon I hear a muffled peep.
I lift the rug and to my shock
I find a mouse that likes to mock.

It squeaks and runs around the room
And makes me chase it with the broom.
It dodges every single swipe
And laughs at me with all its might.

At last I catch it in a trap
And take it out without a flap.
I shake the rug and put it back
And hope no more mice will attack.

But as I sit down to relax
I hear another tiny squeak.
I look around and see a crack
Where, more mice peek out with a grin.

Oh no! I think I need a cat!
Or maybe just a bigger mat!
