Fresh water

From the clouds you fall as rain
To quench the thirsty earth again
You fill the lakes and streams and seas
You nourish plants and animals and trees

You change your form as mist or ice
You shape the landscape, carve and slice
You percolate through rocks and soil
You bring life and beauty, growth and toil

You flow as rivers, wide and deep
You carry secrets, memories keep
You reach the ocean, then return
To the clouds, where you began your journey

You are a sip in a crystal glass
A precious gift, a vital mass
You are fresh water, clear and pure
You are essential, you endure
Fresh water
