Fritillary

A gentle silver washed fritillary
Floats gracefully among the summer hedge
Where bramble flowers bloom in harmony
With butterflies, hoverflies and bees

The sunbeams kiss its wings of orange hue
And make them sparkle like a precious gem
It flutters softly in the sky of blue
And sips the nectar from each flower's stem

It dances with its mates in joyous flight
And adds more beauty to the lovely scene
It fills my heart with wonder and delight
To see this creature so serene and keen

A gentle silver washed fritillary
Is nature's gift of grace and poetry
among the summer hedge
