R.A.I.N.

A Mindfulness technique to help with difficult emotions

The storm clouds gather on my mind,
Darkening my thoughts, my mood confined.
I feel the fear, the anger rise,
I want to run, to hide, to try.

But then I remember, RAIN,
A way to face the storm again.
I take a deep breath, I slow my pace,
And I begin the R.A.I.N. embrace.

R for Recognize:
What is it that I feel?
What is the thought that makes me reel?

A for Allow:
I let it be, I do not fight.
I watch it rise, I watch it fall,
I do not judge, I do not call.

I for Investigate:
Where does this feeling come from?
What is the story that I've spun?

N for Nurture:
With kindness, with compassion,
I offer myself some space and calm.

I breathe, I smile, I let it go.
The storm clouds pass, the sun shines through.
I am grateful for the R.A.I.N.,
A way to face my fears again.
