Grey cat, who stalks the garden's borders,
Where all the birds and squirrels fear,
You're gone tonight, and all your brothers
Wonder where you've vanished here.

Did you go wandering in the night,
Or did some neighbour's dog pursue?
We've searched the garden all the light,
But you are nowhere to be viewed.

We hope you'll come back soon, our friend,
And bring your playful ways again,
To chase the birds and squirrels lend
A little bit of summer rain.

We miss you, grey cat, and we pray
