Day 12: mindful parenting meditation.

14 day mindfulness meditation challenge

A guide for a mindfulness meditation for mindful parenting:

  1. Find a quiet and comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed for the duration of the meditation.
  2. Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight, your feet flat on the ground, and your hands resting in your lap.
  3. Take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth, allowing yourself to relax with each exhale.
  4. Begin by bringing your attention to your breath. Focus on the sensation of the air flowing in and out of your nostrils or the rise and fall of your belly with each breath.
  5. As you focus on your breath, start to bring to mind your children or any child that you may be taking care of. Picture them in your mind’s eye and bring up feelings of love and gratitude for them.
  6. As you continue to focus on your breath and your child, start to notice any thoughts or feelings that arise. If you find yourself getting distracted, simply acknowledge the thought or feeling and then bring your attention back to your breath and your child.
  7. As you maintain your focus, begin to ask yourself the following questions:
  • What does my child need from me right now?
  • How can I support my child in this moment?
  • What can I do to strengthen my relationship with my child?
  1. As you contemplate these questions, allow any insights or ideas to arise naturally. You don’t need to force anything or come up with any specific solutions. Simply be open to whatever arises.
  2. Finally, bring the meditation to a close by taking a few more deep breaths and then opening your eyes. Take a moment to appreciate the time you’ve taken to focus on your child and your relationship with them.

By practicing this meditation regularly, you can become more mindful of your parenting and cultivate a deeper connection with your child.
