Moirai

Man with a lantern.

It was a dark and stormy night when Lily heard a knock on the door.

She opened the door and saw a man holding a lantern

He looked at her with a mixture of fear and relief. "I'm Jack, please, can I come in? I need your help."

She hesitated for a moment, then nodded and let him in.

He stepped inside and thanked her profusely. "You don't know how much this means to me. I've been running from them for hours."

She asked him who they were and why they were chasing him.

He looked around nervously and lowered his voice. "They are the agents of the Dark Lord. They want to capture me because I have something they need."

She gasped and asked him what he had.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small metal object. It was shaped like a star and had a blue glow. "This is the Star of Destiny. It's the only thing that can stop the Dark Lord from destroying the world."

She was scared and asked him what he wanted from her.

He looked at her with a sincere expression. "I need your help to deliver this to the Temple of Light. It's the only place where it can be activated and used against the Dark Lord. You are the chosen one, the one who can wield the Star of Destiny."

She felt a strange sensation in her chest and wondered if he was telling the truth.

He sensed her doubt and handed her the Star of Destiny. "Here, take it. You'll feel its power. It's calling to you. You are the only one who can save us all."

She took it and felt a surge of energy.

She gasped as the Star of Destiny pulsed in her hand. She felt a warm light fill her body and mind. She saw visions of the past and the future. She heard a voice in her head. "You are the chosen one. You must go to the Temple of Light and use the Star of Destiny to defeat the Dark Lord. He is coming for you. Hurry."

She panicked and let go of the Star of Destiny. It fell to the floor and rolled under the sofa. She backed away from it and the man. "What is this? What are you doing to me? Get away from me!"

He tried to calm her down and explain everything.

He raised his hands and spoke in a soothing tone. "Please, don't be afraid. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help you. You have a great destiny ahead of you. You are the only one who can save the world from the Dark Lord. He is a powerful and evil wizard who wants to use the Star of Destiny for his own purposes. He has sent his agents to find me and take it from me. That's why I came to you. You are the only one who can activate it and use it against him. You have the power of light within you."

She calmed down and listened to him.

He smiled and continued. "I'm a member of the Order of Light, a secret society of wizards and warriors who fight against the Dark Lord. We have been guarding the Star of Destiny for centuries, waiting for the chosen one to appear. That's you. You have a special mark on your wrist that proves it. Look."

She looked at her wrist and saw a star-shaped scar.

She was shocked and touched the scar. She had always thought it was a birthmark. She had never paid much attention to it. "How did I get this? What does it mean?"

He told her it was a sign of her destiny.

He nodded and said. "It means you are the chosen one, the one who can use the Star of Destiny to defeat the Dark Lord. It's a rare and powerful gift. You were born with it. It's part of your soul. You have a great responsibility and a great opportunity. You can save the world and fulfill your destiny."

She accepted his words and agreed to go with him.

He was relieved and happy. "Thank you. Thank you for trusting me. You won't regret it. I promise. Come on, we have to hurry. The Temple of Light is not far from here. We can take a cab." He whisked a rectangular object from his pocket and tapped it's a few times.

She followed him and got into a waiting cab.

As they sped away into the night she notice a faint blue glow pulsing. He was holding the Star of Destiny in his hand. He smiled and said. "You're amazing. You're brave. You're the chosen one. Together, we'll stop the Dark Lord and save the world."
