Ode to Earth Hour
My friend, let us turn off our lights tonight And join the millions who care for our home. Let us show our gratitude for its light And pledge to protect it wherever we roam. For Earth is more than just a spinning ball, It is the source of all beauty and life. It gives us water, air, food, and all. It fills our hearts with wonder and delight. But Earth is also fragile and in need Of our compassion and responsibility. We must reduce our greed and waste and heed The signs of climate change and its gravity. So let us celebrate this Earth Hour, And make it more than just a symbol. Let us act with love and not with power, And make our planet more than just a spectacle. My friend, tonight we join a noble cause. To show our love for Earth, our common home. We turn off all our lights and take a pause, To think about the ways we can atone. For Earth is suffering from our abuse, It faces threats of warming and pollution. We must not take its gifts for granted or misuse, We must act now to find a solution, But Earth is also generous and kind It gives us beauty, wonder, and delight. It nourishes our bodies and our mind, It fills our souls with joy and light. So let us celebrate this Earth Hour And make it more than just a gesture. Let us live with care and not with power, And make our planet better. ... You who turned off your lights for one hour, To show your love and care for our planet. You who helped a global movement flower, To raise awareness and inspire action. You who did not stop at just one hour, But continued to live more sustainably. You who reduced your carbon footprint and waste, And switched to renewable energy. You who planted trees and cleaned up beaches, You who supported green causes and charities. You who educated yourselves and others, And advocated for environmental policies. You are the heroes of our Earth, The ones who make a difference every day. You are the hope of our future. The ones who light the way. I salute you and thank you, For all that you have done, and will do! I celebrate you and honor you, For being part of the solution.
