Soliloquy.
What fury hath this tempest wrought
That tore the earth and sky apart?
What wrath hath nature's power brought
That shook the very core of my heart?
I saw the trees uprooted lie
Like broken limbs upon the ground
I heard the roofs fly through the sky
Like thunderclaps of dreadful sound
I felt the floods engulf the fields
And drown the crops that fed us all
I watched the roads become like shields
That barred our way and made us stall
And yet, amid this chaos dire
I glimpsed a ray of hope sublime
A rainbow shining through the mire
A sign of grace in troubled time
O storm, thou art a cruel foe
But thou canst not destroy my soul
For I have faith that I shall know
A brighter day when thou art whole.
