How do you define success?
To define this in the most black and white terms I shall say winning a football match! Following football is not my forte, but this season, witnessing the success of Newcastle United ‘The Toon’ advancing up the Premier League has been exhilarating.
From being in the doldrums for years, new ownership and management has breathed spectacular life into the team spirit and seeing them win match after match through hard work and training with a mysterious extra spark of vitality, enthusiasm and determination is a sight to behold.
Watching their matches albeit on a small screen is very exciting with the fanbase cheering, chanting and waving ‘wor flags.’ The atmosphere is almost overwhelmingly electric, especially at their home ground, but even when there’s only a smaller contingent at away games they raise the roof.
They may not succeed in getting to the very top this season, but if they keep their eye on the ball and play it better than the other teams then they’re sure in with a chance.
